Hello again,
Yesterday, our first assignment was due.
The assignment was to review/summarize three scholarly articles.
Each review was to be 300 words in length.
The first article I chose described the difference between 1st-order and 2nd-order learning. 1st order learning is teaching and enabling students to reach learning outcomes. Where 2nd order learning is teaching/enabling students to exceed learning outcomes and build upon previously established successes. This 2nd order learning can be greatly assisted with the use of technology.
The second article suggested allowing some students to read books based on video games in order to improve reluctant readers views towards reading. This is a great idea but it becomes difficult in deciding which students get to try reading books themed on video games. This idea would therefore have to be implemented in a student choice project where all students get to choose the book they review.
The third article I reviewed discussed student literacy with respect to choosing proper resources for college level research. In this fast-paced social environment where students are so socially dependent on technology, students are very good at using technology. Though good at using technology, students typically have a difficult time locating and selecting legitimate resources for study.

Introduction....
Hello,
I thought I'd start the intro to my learning.
This blog was created to keep track of my learning for the UBC course LIBE 467.
I'll be posting for the remainder of the class and hopefully by the end of the class I'll have entire log of my learning experiences.
Looking forward to it.
